CPR Stands in Solidarity with National Civil Rights Organizations Opposing the Attack on the Southern Poverty Law Center

April 24, 2026

For 50 years, CPR has dedicated itself to the protection, enforcement, and expansion of civil rights for persons with disabilities, including those who face discrimination related to other aspects of their identity.  We recognize the important work done by national civil rights organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and we condemn any politically motived use of criminal and civil penalties to threaten this mission.

More than ever, it is vital that civil rights organizations have the freedom to speak out against discrimination and acts of violence that threaten our democracy. This includes the important work done by SPLC to monitor and expose extremist hate groups and defend civil and human rights in our communities.

CPR condemns attacks on organizations like SPLC and other efforts to intimidate or silence groups advocating for a safe, equal, and more just society.
