A survey by the Center for Public Representation has determined that some Massachusetts Hospitals have a video conferencing system know as “Deaf-Talk.” This system enables instant access to live ASL certified interpreters via video-conferencing. Although not a substitute for on-site interpreter services, Deaf-Talk enables emergency rooms to see and treat deaf clients with medical or psychiatric emergencies more quickly. As of the beginning of 2004, the following hospitals report having Deaf-Talk available to their patients and staff:

U Mass Medical Centers (Memorial and University), Worcester
Boston Medical Center
Cambridge Health System
Boston Children's Hospital
St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Brighton
South Shore Hospital, South Weymouth
Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton
St. Anne's Hospital, Fall River
